The GM-S5600YS-1 is a collaboration between G-SHOCK, which continues its unending quest for the ultimate toughness, and Y’s, the first brand launched by world-renowned designer Yohji Yamamoto.Marking the 50th anniversary of its 1972 launch this year, Y’s is a brand that crafts high-quality fashion with universal values and unique pattern-making techniques.The GM-S5600YS-1 begins with the GM-S5600, the more compact version of the iconic octagonal G-SHOCK that features a metal bezel. This timepiece comes with an additional custom-made cloth band that can be swapped with the resin band to suit the mood and style of the day. For added functionality, the cloth band includes a cover to protect the watch face. The cover can be pulled back, folded through the buckle, and easily fastened in place with Velcro. The woven label listing model number and watch functions is sewn at the top edge of the cloth band as a graphic design element inspired by the woven label sewn into Y’s brand clothing. Like the Y’s line, this band is also carefully designed to be durable and comfortable to wear.The all-black body carries on the Y’s style and is accented with metal components for a refined look. Each part of the timepiece is carefully polished with a different finish — the buckle and case with a honing finish; the bezel top with a hairline finish; and the side buttons and screws with a mirror finish. The dial and case back feature the Y’s logo.Y’sY’s is designer Yohji Yamamoto’s very first brand, and to this day it bears his vision and philosophy.
